William J. Dooley, 94, of Warwick passed away peacefully on Sunday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Patricia J. (Hackett) Dooley to whom he was married for 62 years, before her death in 2019.

Born in Cranston, he was the fourth of the eight children of the late Leo P. and Marion V. (Kenneally) Dooley, and the last to be born at home. William was an Army veteran of WWII, serving in Europe with the 88th Division Blue Devils. He was employed by the New England Telephone Company for thirty-eight years before retiring. In addition to serving on the Warwick Board of Canvassers and the Warwick Housing Authority, he was a former chairman of the Ward 1 Democratic Committee. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and a long-time member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club. He will long be remembered as one of the most loyal Red Sox fans, with an uncanny memory for specific games, players and statistics. He was a communicant of Saint Peter Church for over fifty years.

He is survived by his daughters, Patrice E. Concannon (John) of Warwick and Kathleen A. McCoombs of Jamestown; sons, James R. Dooley and Bryan J. Dooley (Gina) both of Warwick. He was the brother of Leo P. Dooley of Lincoln and Kenneth R. Dooley of Savannah, GA. He leaves six grandchildren, Evan Hutson, Alison Hutson, Kellie Dooley, Jenna Dooley, Kayla McCoombs and Benjamin McCoombs; five great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late William John Dooley; brother of the late Eileen Drottz, John “Red” Dooley, Margaret Malone, Lawrence Dooley and Paul Dooley.

Bill’s family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care of the Kent County VNA over the last two years.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Peter Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick on Friday at 10 a.m. (Facial coverings required and Covid 19 protocols to be observed with limited seating).

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Kent County VNA-Hospice Division 51 Health Lane Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated. Burial with military honors in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston will be private. www.trainorfh.com
