With profound sadness we announce the passing of Winifred Shirley Burns our loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She was in her 99th year of life.

She was born in Providence, RI on July 11, 1920 to her proud parents Robert Rawlinson and Alice Fletcher. She was the youngest of thirteen children. Winnie lived a full life. Family and friends were her passion and delight. She was a wonderful mother, homemaker and loving wife. She worked for twenty-two years as a secretary for the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of Warwick. She was a very active member of the Leisure Learning Program and for the Power Squadron. She always had a passion for learning and visiting different parts of the world. She traveled extensively over the years. Her favorite and most memorable trip was to Rome, where she and two dear friends had an audience with Pope John XXIII. Pope John XXIII blessed a family picture she brought with her. It was her greatest gift!

Winnie was the loving wife of the late Raymond Francis Burns. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Marcia and John Rizzo and Karen and Del DeVos. Also, her grandchildren and their spouses: Paula and Jim Baines, Kristen and Mike Samarov, Brian and Carol Rizzo, Jarod and Lisa DeVos, Tasha and Jon Gamble, and Derrick and Kristen DeVos. Her great-grandchildren: Jay, Christain, Sasha, Cody, Cameron, Brady, Taylor, Lily, Avery, Isla, Kadence and Khloe.

Due to current health and safety regulations, her Funeral Services will be private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave, Warwick.

To know her was to love her, "MAY HER MEMORY BE ETERNAL!"
