Richard L. Wood, 88, of Riverside, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Beverly Ogden Wood, with whom he shared 12 wonderful years of marriage. He was previously married to the late Hedwig Wood, his cherished wife of 53 years.

Born in Salamanca, New York, Richard was the son of the late Philip and Alta Lucille (Kelly) Wood. After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force, Richard earned his Associate Degree in Management and Administration from Johnson & Wales University. He went on to enjoy a successful 40-year career in the manufacturing industry.

A devoted Freemason for over 50 years, Richard was a member of Harmony Lodge #9 of Cranston, Past Master of both Rhodes Lodge #44 of Warwick and St. Andrews Lodge #39 of Riverside, Past Grand Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star (1989-1990), and a member of Woonsocket Chapter No. 3, O.E.S. He also served as past president of the East Greenwich Leisure Learning Center.

Richard had a deep love for traveling, music, and family gatherings. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a dedicated member of Warwick Central Baptist Church serving on the Caregivers Team. To Richard, nothing was more important than his faith and his family.

In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by his children, Peter R. Wood of Texas and Kathryn A. Newman of Florida; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He also leaves behind two siblings, David A. Wood of Florida and Mary Blanchard of Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his siblings John C. Wood and Constance L. (Wood) Austin.

Visitation will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., immediately followed by a Masonic Service and funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Military honors will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home immediately following the funeral services. Burial will be private.
