No one seems to notice the correlation between school departments wanting to close unneeded schools and the teachers' unions calls for smaller class sizes; every time there's a move to close unnecessary schools, the unions complain about class size in a move to keep those schools open, and in so doing protect their numbers.
My word... how did we ever graduate with valuable life skills and a minimum of testing with up to 40+ kids in the room?! That was a rhetorical question: we were well-behaved and paid attention because we were told that was how you got ahead in life- we were taught those values AT HOME.
