Well put! You have captured the sentiments of many taxpayers, myself included.
We have many issues with the School Dept. The Ragosta Report, a lack of Chromebooks, teachers working with NO contract, and a public image that is so poor that they hired a public relations firm to improve it. Their reputation is so awful that a high school student has formed a committee to help bridge the communication gap. I have met several times with the union leaders, members of the City Council, several teachers and Karen Bachus, the best representative of the School Committee. On thing they ALL agree on: We need greater transparency! $160,000,000 of the taxpayers money is being spent poorly and with no involvement of our elected officials. Our students test scores are way below average and instead of taking ANY responsibility at all, Mr. Nadeau read the riot act to teachers. We need to fix this and I have a plan to do it.
