I don't think it's a "Mommy" problem so much as the embodiment and outcome of the liberal "Nanny" problem- liberals believe in the infallibility of the state to know what's best for everyone, and also believe that academic achievement translates to real-world intelligence. Why do you think liberal professors outnumber their conservative counterparts 5:1? Why not hide out, insulated on a campus from the scary world outside, and spout off about the evils of work for merit? As Lenin famously said, “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.”
