Mr. Curran , while I indeed wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment of your editorial , I must respectfully disagree with you on some points . Firstly I'm very sure the only need for glasses may be when these pol/lawyers look at their financial accounts , cause that's about the only thing they're interested in . Well that an fancy luxury cars . As far as I'm concerned most pol/lawyers look at the doings of things in Govt. the same way as a well known RI pol/lawyer who was fond of saying when things were put before him "What's in it for me ?". And as I've said before , these pol/lawyers do have a govt. that does work very well , for them ! And they are in no hurry to have things changed . Oh they'll talk till the cows come home about "ethics" or maybe "accountability" and other catch phrases to placate us "Little people " . But rest assured they'll do little or nothing as to really changing things . About the only epiphany most of them will ever get in doing things differently , is when the law comes to arrest them when they get caught with their fingers in the cookie jar . But even then , they get to keep most of what they've "earned" as they go to club FED . The other point I disagree with is the legislators being "duped " into the "38 studios" deal , as I'm very sure it was a case of "Eyes wide shut " for alot of them . The real sad thing Mr. Curran , is that we the people can rant and rave all we want . But from the "38 studios" to the soon to be "Tolls", (that still wont see us get repaired roads and bridges) there is nothing that will get these parasitical narcissists to change their profitable dealings while in office , and they know it . The best summation I've seen of this sad (for the average taxpayer that is ) Govt. situation , is a bumper sticker I once saw on the back of a very expensive luxury car that read " He who dies with the most toys , WINS !" It is sad Mr Curran , because this state has so very much to offer for just about everyone . We're situated between two of the worlds biggest cities without having many of the detrimental effects of congestion in those areas . We've transportation hubs via land sea and air that SHOULD make us a very prosperous state at every level . But instead , we're saddled with what passes for a state Govt. whose only intention of promoting as far as business goes , IS promoting the business of state Govt.
