In my adoptive State, Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill and Carrabba's parking lots are always full, but residents here have an excuse- excellent Italian restaurants are hard to find and they didn't have good choices in the States they arrived from, either.

RI has dozens of excellent Italian eateries boasting italian favorites as well as regional fare; why anyone would want to eat where the sauces all arrive frozen in bags and the bonus is "endless breadsticks and salad" is beyond me, unless you have children who will eat what is put in front of them or are elderly and prefer low-cost, bland food.

The food has only gotten worse since all restaurants are now supplied by the same company, Darden- independent food sourcing and preparation and local franchise management is gone.

Do yourself a favor: support local businesses and enjoy some excellent Italian food in an independent eatery and keep the profit IN THE STATE instead of giving it to a remote corporate entity, as well.

Buon Appetito!
