Why does the Mayor get off without blame here? Isn’t he the leader of the city? Does he understand the concept of separation of power? A true leader does not need a seat at the table to lead. Consolidation is needed due to declining enrollment over the last twenty years. You think there might be a correlation between a lack of leadership over the last twenty years and the declining population?

By the way, the Mayor loves to point out the school budget is the largest portion of the budget. What he fails to mention is every dollar in increased tax revenue from property tax increases, hotel taxes, the 1% meals tax, taxes on new homes and buildings for the last several years has been spent on the city side of the budget, the schools have been level funded. He has not only increased the tax rates, he has increased the tax base from which he is collecting it on.
