I would rather see the 6-10 interchange closed for a couple of years, if it is truly unsafe, and then build the right new roadway for the next 50+ years ... one that would reconnect neighborhoods, increase property values, and pay dividends to the state ... than spend $400 million on the wrong highway that will perpetuate community problems and lock city residents into their existing fate for generations to come. This is an example of destroying the village to save the village. If this were so urgent, why did the Governor wait until now? Or adopt a four-year plan instead of a more expedited one? This is all about her wanting to take credit for being decisive ... which she can do ... unfortunately this decision is the wrong one. History does not look kindly on the Napoleons who decide to invade Russia in winter, regardless of how decisive that action is.
