This Betty sounds like a real piece of work. Is it any wonder her child wants nothing to do with her? She isn't getting her way so she wants special legislation passed so she can assert control over how her child wants to raise her family under the guise of "rights"? She sounds like she has some problems, namely some narcissistic traits. Being part of somebody's life is a privilege, not an "right", and families consist of many members, not just grandparents. People rarely walk away from healthy relationships, but they should certainly run away from toxic ones.
