More accomplished students taught by greatly accomplished teachers that are still waiting for a contract. You will note that the Warwick Teachers Union (WTA) is "prepared to meet at any time". (See front page article entitled "Mayor turns up heat on teacher talks".) You will also notice that the Mayor has "stepped up efforts" by scheduling a meeting several weeks from now. That is the difference between the two sides. The WTA is willing to meet immediately and the Mayor wants to wait several weeks (and he says THAT is a "stepped-up" effort!) He then said he would have his first "all-day" session on June 2nd.

For the record, I campaigned that, as Mayor, I "would meet every day, 8 hours a day until we had a new contract." The Mayor did nothing for over 2 years and now is giving an absolute minimal effort. Our student population has dropped from 17,000 to less than 9,000 and the Mayor has spent more time (factually!) going on vacation than he has dealing with this critically important issue. I would never have ignored it the way he has, and I won't if the issue is still unresolved after the 2018 elections, if I am the new Mayor. At this rate, it looks like the teachers still won't have a contract by then.

2018 is around the corner Warwick teachers. Help is on the way!

Happy Summer everyone.
