There is a simple solution. Accountability.

BEFORE the City Council gives the School Committee (SC) a dime, make them accountable. BEFORE they receive $2.4 million that is "supposed" to be set aside for the teachers, with no guarantee that the teachers, who have been waiting for almost THREE DAMN YEARS, will ever see any of that money, BEFORE the SC gets control of millions more of taxpayers money, MAKE THEM ACCOUNTABLE!

We could have an audit from an independent outside firm...that would make them accountable.

We could split the school budget in two pieces; one for the SC and one for the teachers...that would make them accountable.

We could make the teachers contract the responsibility of the City Council...the City Council IS ACCOUNTABLE!

We could push for a home rule charter so we can make these decisions easier...that would be the MOST ACCOUNTABLE.

$165,000,000 is way too much money to be managed with no accountability.

Folks, it's time to make the SC accountable, one way or the other. Wouldn't it be great if one of them stepped up and said so?

Happy Summer everyone.
