Absolutely the right move by the City Council and the mayor. There is a segment of beach goers that by all accounts shows no respect for the environment or the local community by the way they degrade the shoreline. Councilman Howe is right, it is filthy and our DPW workers have much more important projects to do in the city than clean up after people who trash our beaches. Buttonwoods families are also upset with the traffic through the residential area, and many are afraid to take their children to their own neighborhood park because of safety and security concerns.

When something is free, it will inevitably be abused. This is common sense policy and hopefully the conditions at the beaches will begin to improve for Warwick families as a result.
