If you think it's a mess now with National Grid, be glad it's not still Narragansett Electric.

Grid took over a utility in shambles which had sacrificed infrastructure improvements and instead took good care of their shareholders, many of whom were well-known RI names. RI residents complained when electricity rates rose after Narragansett Electric was purchased, but have no idea what a mess they were when they were bought- again, the stockholders made a tidy profit on the sale while RI residents were left holding the bill for all the necessary and long overdue upgrades.

Couple that with the usual speed of union employees (like snails on Thorazine) and see how fast your power gets restored.
