I dont understand your statement "Why would u retire at 51 when you make more in the private sector than any city worker !!!!!"
Who in the private sector can retire at 51 and after the 3rd year of retirement make more money than when he was employed?
Rotating out chiefs in the early 50's is unsustainable. The pension system was never designed to fund these kinds of liabilities. By the way, when Chief Armstrong retired, in his 30 years, he contributed a total of $147,000 during his career. That money came back to him in less than 18 months. Is that sustainable?
