Mayor Avedisian and I have been in each others company dozens of times. He has always given me a friendly smile and a sincere handshake. As a person, I like and respect him very much. His decision to "Tax-and-Spend" at a time when the taxpayers could not possibly afford it was were he and I parted ways. That worked for Mayor Joe Walsh back in the 60's in an inflation-economy but the results were a disaster in the 2,000s with the worst recession-economy since 1029.

5,800 taxpayers moved out of Warwick as a result. (according to the U.S. Census) They took their tax revenue with them causing taxes to go up for 17 years in a row, on the rest of us. Whoever becomes the next Mayor of Warwick NEEDS to reverse that trend. I have a plan. I hope Joe Solomon and/or whoever else throws their hat in the election has a plan as well. These are interesting times and the 80,000 taxpayers that are paying the tab are watching. In the last election they gave me 13,278 votes. I call that my base and listening to the remarks I receive every day, I believe that number is growing.

Happy Spring everyone.
