It's a jewel for the city and people do a pretty good job policing themselves. The condition of the lighthouse, however, is deplorable. If only we had a foundation that was charged with maintenance and renovation... Oh wait, we do! The Conimicut Lighthouse Foundation founded in 2005. Whew! And who is the Director of that foundation that has stood by while the ONLY property they are charged with maintaining continues to rot away due to abject neglect? Joe Solomon. So besides ongoing deterioration, the lighthouse and the city have another thing in common: Joe Solomon has overseen both for more than 15 years! While I am sure Mr. Solomon is well-intentioned, I hope the lighthouse does not stand as a metaphor for his leadership and execution skills.
