Here is what I know from personal experience. We were taught to pass standardized tests. Often times, we couldn't even get through everything that was on the test by the time the scheduled date came around. I can't do math. Most of my friends can't do basic math. We weren't taught a subject and how to apply it. We were taught how to memorize for a test. I don't think tests should be done away with, just that it go back to what it was originally intended - a way to gauge how well we understand the subject and apply it. Teaching us how to take tests in no way prepared us for adulthood.
