There is a reason for moving it up. The city implemented a new computer system (to be more transparent) in terms of shift scheduling. It is a vital part of what the city wanted in terms of tracking vacations, sick time, shift changes. It has been programmed to start on 1/1/20. The firefighters are making a huge lifestyle altering move to help the city with 24hr shifts. Even waiting 6 days will screw the system all up as vacation time for the entire year has been picked already. The votes to pass this are there. Merolla knows the need to get it done by 1/1. Yet he is playing games. WITH A COMPUTER SYSTEM HE APPLAUDED. 6 days might not seem like a lot in the new year but it screws up
