Thundermist Health Centers will hold its Annual Duck Race and Family Fun Day this Saturday from 11 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Royal Mills Riverpoint, located at 125 Providence Street in West Warwick. The event will be held rain or shine.

Starting at 11 a.m., there will be family-friendly activities, like face painting, games, arts and crafts, and pumpkin painting. There will also be food, music, vendors, and more. The duck race will take place at 1:30 p.m.

At this time, up to 5,000 rubber ducks will be launched into the Pawtuxet River to race to the finish line. The owners of the first three ducks to cross the finish line will win cash prizes: $1000, $250 and $100, respectively. Prizes will be awarded for the first 25 ducks to cross the finish line.

“We are amazed with the community support we receive each year; people really enjoy this event,” said Marlene Roberti, associate vice presioden of development and communications. “Families look forward to the Duck Race and continue to return year after year. We’re happy to host an event that helps to bring the community together.”

Ducks can be adopted for five dollars each; adoption packages are also available: a Quack Pack is 5 Ducks + 1 Free Duck for $25; Perfect Paddling – 10 Ducks + 2 Free Ducks for $50; and Feathery Flock– 20 Ducks + 5 Free Ducks for $100. A certificate is presented to the owner for each duck purchased. Each certificate is numbered, and if this number corresponds to the number on one of the first 25 ducks to cross the finish line, the owner wins a prize. Duck owners don’t need to be present at the event to win. All proceeds benefit Thundermist Health Center. Duck certificates can be purchased online atwww.thundermisthealth.org, by visiting a front desk receptionist at either Thundermist of West Warwick location (1219 Main Street and/or 186 Providence Street), and on the day of the event. If you have questions, please call Jenny at 235-6887 or e-mail Marlene at marlenero@thunderrmisthealth.org.
