Calling all detectives! Trinity Church on Ocean Avenue is hosting a murder mystery dinner on September 17, and parishioners are working hard to put the event together.
Attendees will be part of a How to Host a Murder-themed night, in which the “Class of 1954” has its 25th reunion. At the reunion, a class member is murdered, and it’s up to everyone else to find out who did it. Characters like Calvin Culator, Penelope Loafer, Evelyn C. Lay, Delbert Toids and Wanda Around will serve up three courses and laughs alike as they try to capture the killer.
The event was the brainchild of Trinity parishioner Janice Pangman. Pangman took care of actor signups, catering, and securing the venue. Then, fellow parishioner Christopher Margadonna put his theater minor from Rhode Island College to use directing the show. So far, it has been as fun for those involved as Trinity members anticipate the event will be for those who attend.
“All we do is laugh at rehearsals,” says Margadonna, adding that sometimes he has to be a “strict director” to ensure everything is perfect.
Regardless of whether he’s laughing with his actors or laying down the law, Pangman is happy for Margadonna’s leadership and “can’t say enough” good things about him.
“He is phenomenal. He should be a director,” she says of his abilities.
The event will be held on September 17 at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on Warwick Avenue. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at the church or through Janice Pangman.
