The Rhode Island Airport Police, in partnership with the Rhode Island State Police, United States Attorney’s Office, Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office and Amica Insurance, will host a presentation on human trafficking, with an emphasis on domestic minor sex trafficking tomorrow.

Deena Graves, founder and former Executive Director of Traffick911, a non-profit organization with the mission to end human trafficking in America is the keynote speaker.  The organization is working to end human trafficking with a three-pronged parallel strategy focusing on prevention, rescue and restoration. 

Under the leadership of Graves, Traffick911 identified approximately 140 victims of domestic minor sex trafficking, leading to numerous arrests, pleas and convictions and opened one of a handful of safe houses for these children in the U.S.  Graves, who speaks across the nation on domestic minor sex trafficking, will use case studies of the children she has helped rescue and restore.  She is an award-winning communicator dedicated to social justice and human rights issues for American children. 

The issue of human trafficking has become widespread throughout our country, as noted most recently in Rhode Island where several arrests have been made.  The presentation and discussion will look at the challenges faced by law enforcement in identifying, investigating and prosecuting perpetrators and will look at best practices in supporting victims of this heinous crime. 

The presentation will be held in the amphitheater at Amica Corporate Headquarters, 100 Amica Way, Lincoln. It starts at 8:30 a.m.
