East Greenwich Leisure Learning
Do you enjoy learning something new in a fun and friendly environment? East Greenwich Leisure Learning, membership organization now in its 36th year, welcomes interested adults, regardless of residency, to join them by registering for their upcoming six-week series of 12 lectures and programs The dates for the spring series are April 10, 24 and May 1, 8 and15, with morning and afternoon presentation each day. Topics of lectures vary from the practical to the historical, especially Rhode Island history, and anything in between Programs are held at St. Luke’s Parish House on the corner of Peirce and Church Sts. The registration fee for the series is $15, and members sign up for the entire series. Pre-registration is required. Those interested may contact the registrar at 828-0978.
Pink Out
the Runway
Pink Out the Runway will be held April 11 at Warwick Veterans Memorial High School. Doors open at 5:15 p.m., show begins at 6, featuring a fashion show, vendors, a raffle and a mini bake sale. Tickets are $5, sold at the door or email briannacarbary@yahoo.com. Sponsored by Mens Wearhouse & Tux and David’s Bridal. This is the senior project of Brianna Carbary, and all proceeds will be donated to the Rhode Island Chapter of Pink Heals.
Spring Rummage Sale
The First Baptist Church of East Greenwich will have its Spring Rummage Sale April 11 from 4-8 p.m. and
again April 12, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. They have the very best items for sale from clothes for all ages and sizes to household items, small appliances, shoes, bags, children’s clothes and toys and so many books on many topics and fiction. You do not want to miss this opportunity to refresh your spring wardrobe and even buy gifts. The church is located one block up from Main Street, easy to find on Pierce Street.
Easter Egg Hunt
Riverview Improvement Association and the Conimicut Village Association will host an Easter egg hunt April 12 at 11 a.m. sharp. The Easter Bunny will be there with prizes and goody bags. The hunt is open to all children ages 10 and under.
Spring Fling
The Conimicut Village Association Spring Fling is scheduled for April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tri-City Elks Lodge 1915 West Shore Road The event features a buffet dinner, live music, door prizes, raffle baskets and silent auctions. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased online at www.conimicut.org or by calling 524-8404. This sellout annual fundraiser helps pay for the flowers and flags that adorn Conimicut Village center every summer. No tickets will be sold at the door.
Annual Orchid Plant Auction
The annual Ocean State Orchid Society orchid plant auction will be held April 12 at 10 a.m. at the North Kingstown Community Center, 30 Beach St., Wickford. Member sign-up starts at 9 a.m., orchid plant preview from 10-10:30,m auction is at 10:30. Orchid plants offered for auction are mature blooming or near blooming size plants. Sgt. David Langevin’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 449 will hold an Easter ham raffle April 12 at the post home, 197 Providence St., West Warwick. Used Book Sale
Used and almost new books will be for sale at Asbury United Methodist Church, 143 Ann Mary Brown Dr., Warwick, April 12. The sale will be from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. All proceeds will benefit a campership fund for youth to attend Camp Aldersgate, the United Methodist Church camp in Glocester.
Benefit Concert
The 12th Annual R.I. Community Food Bank benefit concert will be held Palm Sunday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Lakewood Baptist Church, 255 Atlantic Ave., Warwick. Admission is at least one non-perishable food item. A free-will offering for the food bank will also be taken (check payable to RI Community Food Bank).
New England Steel Guitar
New England Steel Guitar Country will be April 13 at Post 15, Main St., East Greenwich from 1-5 p.m. Al Carter and The Nashville Boys will perform. Kitchen is open.
