The Warwick Vets softball team was ousted by St. Ray’s, 9-0, on Wednesday in Division II playoff action.
The No. 6 ’Canes had won four straight games going into Wednesday, but drew a tough Saints team that only dropped two games during the regular season.
Saints’ pitcher Kaylee Sylvestre went the distance to pick up the win in the circle, allowing five hits and keeping Vets off the board. Sylvestre also had three of the Saints’ 14 hits in the game.
Vets’ Kayla Morin suffered the loss against St. Ray’s, as she was relieved by Kayla Bourbon in the second inning.
Overall, it was a successful season for Vets, going 9-7 in its first season after dropping down from Division I.
Last season, the ’Canes went just 4-12 in the state’s top division.
