A 10-year-old child was hospitalized after being struck by a car on Park Avenue in Cranston on Saturday, according to police.
Officers responded to the area of 820 Park Ave. at approximately 1:52 p.m. that afternoon following reports of the incident. Police say their investigation found the child had apparently run into traffic and been struck by a vehicle that was traveling east.
The child was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, according to police, and was initially listed in critical condition before reportedly being upgraded to stable condition.
No additional information regarding the child or the driver of the vehicle was released, and police said the incident remains under investigation by certified accident reconstruction personnel.
