The Warwick Police Department has joined the Rhode Island State Police and other highway safety advocates across the country for the National “Click It or Ticket” seat belt enforcement mobilization.
It starts Nov. 20 and runs through Nov. 27. The national holiday signifies family togetherness and is a chance for many motorists to travel visiting family members. This week is one of the busiest travel weeks for the motoring public and marks the start of Christmas Shopping Season. Colonel Stephen McCartney and the Warwick Police Department encourage everyone on the road to use seat belts and child safety seats, and to use them properly.
Officers will crack down on motorists who fail to wear their seat belts. Special details will be out to enforce seatbelt use day and night. Officers will also be looking out for other violations that commonly occur during the holidays, such as jay walking, using a break down lane for travel and blocking intersections.
High-visibility enforcement, such as the “Click It or Ticket” mobilization, is credited with increasing the national belt usage rate from 58 percent in 1994 to 85 percent in 2010. Experts say belt use saves thousands of lives each year.

Another way for the government to make money on the back of the taxpayer!!!!!! You have to wear a seatbelt in a vehicle weighing from 2,000lbs or more, but you don't need a helmet to ride a motorcycle go figure!! Our elected officials should worry about moving this country not trying to get more money from us.
