Comic Con theme to St. Rose of Lima School science show

Posted

This coming Monday 70 St. Rose of Lima School students will be presenting science projects in celebration of hands on learning. The projects will vary in category, from 5th grade students conducting earthquake tests to 8th grade students presenting information about an element they were assigned. Claudine Davenport, middle school science and math teacher, can be credited for the idea of the celebration.

Not only will 8th graders present information about an element, but they will also be presenting an originally created superhero that is based on the given element’s properties. The theme behind their projects is “Comic Con!” These students will also be dressed up as their superheroes and elaborate upon their unique superpowers. While the science fair has been going on for three to four years, the Comic Con! theme is new this year.

4th graders will be presenting more traditional projects. Their projects revolve around the scientific method and creating a conclusion based on test results.

The science fair will be happening at St. Rose School from 8:30 to 10:30. Parents and students are welcome. Due to the 8th grader’s untraditional superhero theme, the school did not qualify to go state level.
