Dance teacher opens Greenwood dance studio

Fifteen years ago, Stacy Capone was a dance teacher at the biggest dance studio in Colorado. When she returned home to Warwick, she taught at Warwick Dance and Gymnastics Academy and coached gymnastics at Warwick Veterans High School, where she was nominated Coach of the Year four times. Now, she has decided to open a dance studio of her own.

Capone celebrated the grand opening of Distinctive Dance Etc., 2765 Post Road in Greenwood. Sunday evening and is ready for a summer of camps and classes.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” she said. “It was time to do something on my own while I stayed close to home.”

The first day of classes will be July 5 and registration is open for all summer programs. Capone offers ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and tumbling classes for all ages, including a “Move With Me” class for children as young as 18 months and their parents.

Disney-themed summer camps will also be offered from July 11 to July 14 and August 8 to August 11 for children ages 3 to 7. Campers can be registered for an entire week of camp or on a daily basis, depending on each family’s availability. Both camp sessions will end with a recital. All class and camp information is available on the Distinctive Dance Etc. Facebook page while the website is under construction.

“I’m really excited for this new project,” said Capone.
