Doris R. (Shrader) Soder

Doris R. (Shrader) Soder, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Arthur Soder Jr.

Born in Madison County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Emmet and Jennie (Boles) Shrader. Doris was a veteran of the United States Navy. She worked for Duquette's Market and Dial Media for many years; however her main job was to be a Mom and Nana. She knew how to make anyone feel welcome with her inviting and warm personality. Doris was a member of the former Peoples Baptist and Shawomet Baptist Churches and recently Woodbury Union Church; furthermore she enjoyed gardening, antiquing, singing in the choir, cooking and joining her weekly breakfast group. She lived an exuberant and happy life with so much to offer to others.

Doris is survived by two sons: Gregory A. Soder and his wife, Susan of West Kingston and Philip M. Soder and his wife, Carolann of Warwick; four grandchildren: Russell A. Soder, Kerrilyn A. McCarthy, Renee Fallon and Kurtis Fallon; two great-grandchildren: Hunter McCarthy and Brooklyn Soder; two brothers: Charles Shrader and Bobby Shrader both of Birmingham, AL; and her life long friend and sister-in-law Louise Colwell of Warwick.

A funeral service will take place at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home and Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick on Thursday, December 4 at 10:30 a.m. followed with a military burial at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
