Free Veterans Day tickets for vets and their families

In honor of Veterans Day, the RI Philharmonic Orchestra invites all veterans, service members and their families to open rehearsal of Barber & Dvorak free of charge on Friday, November 11, starting at 5:30 p.m. Up to four free tickets are available to each veteran, service member and their family. Additional tickets are $15 for adults, $9 for students.

An open rehearsal means that although the intent is to play the music from start to finish, it is possible that the conductor will stop the musicians and give them instruction about the piece. The conductor will have a microphone and the audience can hear what is being said. An open rehearsal generally lasts for approximately two hours including intermission, but could be slightly shorter or longer.

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s music director Larry Rachleff takes the podium on Friday 11 a.m. 5:30 p.m. with violinist Alexander Kerr playing Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto. The Orchestra will also perform Dvorak’s Sixth Symphony and Dreamtime Ancestors, a 2015 composition by Christopher Theofanidis.

Veterans and their families may call 248-7000 to reserve tickets.
