The Hendricken freshman baseball team ran through the regular season and was awarded the top seed in this month’s postseason, but the Hawks came up one game shy of capturing a state championship.
After getting a bye in the quarterfinals and beating No. 4 Warwick Vets in the semis, Hendricken matched up with second-seeded La Salle in the finals last Wednesday and fell 3-2 at McCarthy Field in West Warwick.
