State Republican headquarters based at Airport Plaza has been busy over the 10 ten days, as people have come in to sign papers for presidential candidates in order to have them appear on the April 26 primary ballot. Candidates need a minimum of 1,000 signatures from registered voters statewide to appear on the ballot. The deadline for submitting signatures is 4 p.m. today. According to Dottie McCarthy at the Warwick Board of Canvassers, municipal boards statewide have until Feb. 17 to certify signatures. Because of the projected low primary voter turnout, she said there would be only one poll per ward. She said the deadline for mail ballots is April 5 at 4 p.m. After that emergency ballot will be available at the board until primary day. Signing sheets here is Jennifer Dunwoodie of Warwick.
