After a weekend of head-to-head Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) battles, Ian Robb, 12, earned the esteemed title of Pokémon Spring Regional Champion at the 2015 Pokémon Spring Regional Championships.

Held in Sturbridge, Mass. on May 16 and 17, the Warwick-native joins an elite group of only eight Senior Division Spring Regional TCG Champions from across North America to clinch the title.

“The Spring Regional Championships is a critical tournament for players leading up to this summer’s national and international events, so a big congratulations to all of the players that earned a top spot and a special thank you to everyone that participated,” said J.C. Smith, director of Consumer Marketing for The Pokémon Company International. “We’re looking forward to seeing many of these players at the largest events of the season, including the 2015 Pokémon National and World Championships.”

Along with the first place finish and a Pokémon Spring Regional Champion trophy, Ian also earned valuable Championship Points that count toward a potential invite to the 2015 Pokémon World Champions in Boston, Mass. in August. Players that achieve a top Championship Points ranking following the 2015 Pokémon U.S. National Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. this July will earn a spot to compete among the best players from more than 30 countries at the Pokémon World Championships.

If Ian made it to the World Championships this year, it would not be his first time. Back in 2012, he qualified for the World Championship, an event that was held in Hawaii.

Robb could not be contacted for comment.

Sorry you weren't able to get in touch with us! Ian has, indeed qualified for Worlds, this year, and every year since 2011. And, in Hawaii 2012 Ian won second place again a wonderful player from Japan. It was a magical day. Thanks for the coverage!
