Making statewide business connections

IT EVEN HAS COLORFUL LIGHTS: The hot tub displayed by Pool & Patio Center of Coventry was an attraction with some of those attending voicing their wish that it was not only filled with water, but they had brought along their bathing suits. The next best thing was to hop into the tub and imagine as did from left: David Brush of Apple Valley Insurance; Deborah Ramos, executive director of the North Central Chamber of Commerce; Kevin Burns of Pool & Patio and Melynda Silva of Lu Lu Avenue Jewelry. Looking on, but not joining the gang in the tub, is Art Perry of the Artillery Company of Newport.

MAN WITH THE COOKIES: The Panera Bread display promoting the company’s catering business was a certain success as Andrew Geoghegan, manager of catering operations provided cookies to those attending the event.

IF ONLY THE WEATHER WOULD COOPERATE: Melanie Flamand, member of the Central Rhode Island Chamber and of Flamand Insurance Associates and attorney John Carroll ended up wistfully talking about their golf games. Flamand even demonstrated her club grip.

Chambers of Commerce from across the state came together Tuesday for the annual Statewide Business After Hours at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. The event that offers business people the opportunity to network and promote their products and services attracted more than 800 people from across the state. The Central Rhode Island Chamber based in Warwick and its president Lauren Slocum were pivotal in starting the event 19 years ago and running it today. (Warwick Beacon photos)
