The German American Cultural Society will hold its annual Oktoberfest Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25 at their club on 78 Carter Avenue, Pawtucket.
On Saturday the Oktoberfest will start at 1:30 p.m. with the blessing of the food and tapping of the first keg. The Bavarian Brothers will play from 2 to 6 p.m. The Bavarian Brothers will play their Alphorns and do their bell ringing routine. The “Alpenblumen Musikanten” will play from 6:30 until 10:30 p.m. for your dancing and listening pleasure.
On Sunday the Oktoberfest starts at noon and runs to 5:00 p.m.and the “Alpenblumen Musikanten” will play again.
On both, Saturday and Sunday the “SGTV Alpenblumen,” a Bavarian Folk Dance Group, will perform Schuhplattler (shoe-slapping) dances all dressed in the traditional costumes.
Authentic German food, bratwurst, knockwurst, bauernwurst, leberkäse, potato pancakes, sauerkraut, potato salad and, of course, lots and lots of German beers will be served. Admission is $ 8 each day.
