That’s how Layo Rodriguez of North Eastern Tree Service brought down this tree near the intersection of West Shore Road and Main Avenue last Thursday. Cleanup following the violent Aug. 4 electrical storm with its macroburts that felled trees on houses and blocked roads still continues. And then yesterday afternoon at almost the same location a giant tree fell, perhaps weakened by the storm, fell across the road trapping several motorists. As of yesterday, more than 740 people had filed storm-related damage reports with Warwick Emergency Management. Mayor Scott Avedisian said as of noon yesterday that he was still waiting to learn whether the county would receive a “disaster designation” from the Federal Emergency Management Agency which would make the city and some property eligible for grants.
