PUBLIC NOTICE

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) and SolarCity Corporation have completed a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate potential environmental impacts associated with a proposed two megawatt solar photovoltaic generating system planned for installation at T.F. Green State Airport (PVD). The proposed solar project includes the construction of an elevated solar array system built on an existing automobile parking lot located to the southwest of the airport’s terminal facilities. This document provides the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with the information necessary to determine whether impacts associated with the proposed solar project have the potential to contribute to cumulative impacts to the environment. Based on this determination, the FAA will either issue a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) or the agency will require the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to further analyze the proposed project and associated impacts.

The EA will be posted on RIAC’s website, will be available at the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick and the Cranston Public Library, 140 Sockanossett Cross Road, Cranston, and by calling 401-691-2000. Public comments must be received in writing or via email by 5 pm Friday, August 26, 2016. Public comments will be included in the Final EA and submitted to the FAA for review and consideration.
