What good does it do to sit around all day on La-Z-Boy furniture? A tremendous amount for the Bradley family of Charlestown and their 2½-year-old daughter, Belle, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

From Friday, April 5 through Sunday, April 7, Rhody Bloggers for Good will team up with La-Z-Boy of Warwick to host a Sit-A-Thon for Belle. During this special event held at La-Z-Boy located at 1755 Bald Hill Road, a group of local bloggers and La-Z-Boy employees will “sit” to raise funds to help Belle’s family with medical bills they will face throughout her treatment.

Belle’s mother, Melissa Thompson Bradley, is a member of Rhody Bloggers for Good. She will join fellow bloggers to sit in Belle’s honor.

The community is encouraged to come out and support the event, which will be filled with activities for the whole family, including Roger Williams ZooMobile, Providence BOYI Improv Group, face painting, family movies, popcorn, arts and crafts, a bake sale, yard sale, raffles and more.

“We were so moved by Belle’s story that we created this event with La-Z-Boy to help the Bradley family pay for all the medical expenses they will be facing over the next two-and-a-half years,” said Melissa Gardner, of Rhody Bloggers for Good. “We would sit forever to help Belle beat leukemia.”

Belle is a 2½-year-old who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in December 2012. She faces two-and-a-half years of treatment, including chemotherapy, spinal taps, platelet transfusions and more.

“With the will and spunk of Belle and the support of the community, this little girl plans to beat cancer,” said Gardner.
