Robert J. White, age 77, of Warwick, died at home on April 23, 2013. He was the husband of Bernice C. (Grondin) White. He was also the husband of the late Beatrice M. (Aucoin) White.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Schiboni) White, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran of the Korean War, and earned his bachelors degree with honors at Salve Regina University. Mr. White served with the Warwick Police Department for 20 years, retiring as a detective lieutenant in 1979. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 7, and the Warwick Retired Police and Firemen’s Association. Following retirement, he was employed by Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing for 7 years as the chauffeur for Mr. Henry Sharpe. Mr. White was an avid fisherman, and particularly enjoyed his time at Squam Lake in New Hampshire. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and storytelling, and was a history buff.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert M. White of Warwick, a daughter, Kimberly A. White-Schauer of Exeter, a step-daughter, Jacqueline A. Procopio of Warwick, two step-sons, Paul A. Casey of West Greenwich and Kenneth R. Casey of Austin, Texas; a brother, William White of Warwick; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was the brother of the late Richard White.

His funeral will be held on Friday, April 26, at 8:45 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Avenue, East Greenwich. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter.
