The Edgewood Yacht Club is in the process of reviewing binds for the next phase of building a clubhouse on the site of the clubhouse that burned to the waterline in an electrical snowstorm in Jan. 12, 2011. Piles for the three-story clubhouse being built in cooperation with Brown University, which bases its sailing team at the yacht club, have been completed. According to club member Bill Plumb, the finished clubhouse should be ready to open late this fall. He said the first floor would offer space for sailing instruction and other activities. The second would be devoted to the yacht club and the third floor would be occupied by Brown sailing. Plumb said the club has raised $275,000 in a drive for $300,000 to outfit the new space and that a “paint and vino” event will be held Feb. 11 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Shriners Imperial Room at Rhodes. Tickets are $60. Here, club manager Michael Longtin climbs a dock ramp alongside the site for the new clubhouse. (Warwick Beacon photo)
