(Awful action movie)
Sometimes it is fun just to veg out and watch the good guys wipe out the bad guys in a grade B action movie. Unfortunately, "Safe" isn't one of them.
Jason Statham stars as Luke, a washed-up mixed martial arts fighter who wins a fight he was supposed to lose. He ends up homeless and destitute.
About to throw himself in front of a subway car, he notices Mei, a 12-year-old Chinese girl who is trying to escape from a bunch of mean-looking dudes. What follows is an absolutely ridiculous chase involving a Russian gang, a Chinese gang and, of course, crooked cops, all of whom are trying to get their hands on Mei.
Why? Because she has memorized a long list of numbers that contain the combination to a safe that everyone is looking for.
Along the way, Luke kills half the population of New York City, ravages a hotel and nightclub, eludes the bad guys from every angle, and never cracks a smile.
Rated a big R, with profanity and extreme violence.
