Senior Center plans trip to NY’s Turning Stone Resort & Casino

Posted

“Please sign up quickly,” read a flyer being passed out by Marie Venditti last week at the Johnston Senior Center. “This trip will sell out quickly.”

Venditti, who coordinates trips and various other activities at the center, was promoting what she called “perhaps our most popular trip of the year.”

The three-day trek to the Verona, N.Y.-based Turning Stone Resort & Casino isn’t until March 28-30, but Venditti is concerned that some people who make the trip haven’t yet signed up, while some other people have expressed interest but haven’t registered.

“With any trip like this, we try to fill up the capacity level and complete the entire trip travel plan as soon as possible,” she said. “It’s three days of fun at a great, great facility. I absolutely love Turning Stone.”

Venditti said a chartered motor coach will leave the center at 6:30 a.m. March 28, and is scheduled to arrive at Turning Stone at approximately 11:30 a.m. or 11:45 a.m.

“We’ll have a stop along the route for breakfast,” he said, noting that the entire trip costs only $250 per person, which includes transportation, taxes, baggage handling, and the individual bingo or casino package. Rooms are double occupancy.

Those seeking further information about any of the remaining 16 scheduled trips in 2016 should call Venditti at 401-944-3343 during regular business hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The center’s Travel Club will hold a meting on Thursday, Jan. 28 to discuss plans and hold sign-ups for trips to America’s Music Cities and Switzerland, Austria, and Bavaria.

The 4 p.m. meeting will include discussion and travel plans for the 2017 and 2018 trips that are open to the public.
