LITTLE LEAGUE ROUNDUP
Sheridan Electric wins two, improves to 3-0

Cameron Armenti pitched five strong innings, giving up three hits and striking out five, to go with two hits as Sheridan Electric topped Leo’s Tire 6-2. Jake Randall had a double and struck out the side to close the game. Kyle Brodeur had the game winning RBI.  

Donelan's 10, Leo's Tire 7

Jake Dennis of Donelan’s pitched four strong innings, striking out 10 and holding Leo’s Tire to one run. Elias Fura provided plenty of offense for Donelan’s, going 3-for-4 with a triple. Leo’s made a comeback in the fifth and sixth innings, but Donelan’s was able to weather the storm and end the game with Thomas Sullivan striking out the last batter.

Brennan’s Braces 15, Coastway Credit Union 0

Led by shutout pitching by Andrew Merryfield and Tyler Brunelle and a 14-hit attack, Brennan’s defeated Coastway Monday night. The offense was led by Demitri Ayers and Ryan Corrigan, who each had triples.

Brennan’s Braces 9, Sinapi Law 4

Strong pitching by Demitri Ayers, Andrew Merryfield and Collin Lemieux gave Brennan’s their second victory of the night. A strong outing at catcher by Daniel Tanguay and two hits each for Ayers and Tyler Brunelle helped the team in cold and windy conditions.

Savage & Savage 16, Donelan’s 4

Savage & Savage scored 16 runs on 12 hits, led by Ethan Asadorian, who went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple. John Procaccini went 3-for-3 and Frankie Halliwell had three RBI on a bases clearing double. Zack Fraser started and pitched three scoreless innings.

VFW Post 14, Leo’s Tire 14

VFW Post 14 scored eight runs in the third inning to go up 11-1, but Leo’s put together a 12-run rally in the bottom of the fourth thanks to key RBI singles from Anthony Berry and Max Turner. Ethan Laramee gave Leo’s a 13-11 lead with an inside-the-park grand slam. Both teams scored in the final inning and the back-and-forth game ended in a 14-14 tie.

Sheridan Electric 7,

DeGiulio Insurance 6

Warwick American’s Sheridan Electric rallied for an extra-inning victory over West Side’s DeGiulio Insurance. Nathan Miller pitched into the seventh inning with eight strikeouts, while delivering two hits and scoring two runs. Will Walaska was 3-for-3 with a walk. Brandon Leach pitched a scoreless 1.2 innings to close the game in his first appearance of the season.

 

VFW Post 183 9, Savage & Savage 5

On a brisk Friday night, West Side’s VFW Post 183 knocked off Warwick National’s Savage & Savage 9-5. Max Caracuzzo pitched two scoreless innings for VFW, which took an early lead after a single by Dylan Bourret and key two-out hits by Mike Borges and Thane Denton. Savage & Savage scored one in the third, but VFW answered with five in the bottom half. Matt Zubrycki, Ethan Dillon and Joe Gambardella loaded the bases to start the inning. Mike Borges then walked to plate a run and Caracuzzo knocked in two with a double. Savage & Savage scored three runs in the fifth but Gambardella helped his team escape the inning when he caught a long fly ball on the warning track. In the sixth, Savage & Savage threatened again, but Max Brown threw a runner out at the plate and VFW finished off the win.

Leo’s Tire 11, Donelan’s 9

After falling behind 5-0, Leo’s Tire scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning on two bases-loaded walks and RBI singles from Nick Kirejczyk and Max Turner. The pitching tandem of Kirejczyk and Dante Wilding kept Donelan’s scoreless through the next four innings and Leo’s took the lead in the bottom of the second on another bases-loaded walk and a two-run single by Ronnie Desantis. Leo’s added four runs in the fourth. Donelan’s closed the gap to two but fell short.
