A public skating session will take place at Thayer Arena from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22 to benefit Westgate condominium residents who lost their homes in the March 11 fire. Donations of $3 per person will be collected at the entrance or donations of any amount will be accepted.
Mayor Scott Avedisian said, “We must continue to do all that we can to ensure that our residents who have been impacted by the fire have the resources they need. We are fortunate to have such a caring and giving community. Our residents are known for lending a helping hand to others. This public skating session will enable us to come together for a meaningful cause.”
Earlier this week Avedisian announced that donations and gift cards for those impacted by the fire may be sent to Westbay Community Action, 224 Buttonwoods Avenue, Warwick, Rhode Island 02886. Checks should be made payable to West Bay CAP-Westgate Fire Fund.
