The words on the sign say it all: "Homemade Everything!" Homemade marinara sauce ~ lovingly prepared with fresh garlic, plump tomatoes, and all the wholesome ingredients of a well-guarded, secret family recipe. Homemade meatballs and sausages ~ flavorful, moist and delicately seasoned. Homemade fried mushrooms - made with jumbo-sized mushrooms, hand dipped in a light batter and then fried to golden perfection. Homemade mozzarella and pepper jack cheese sticks ~ triple-breaded to keep the hot, oozing cheese inside its crispy coating. Homemade . . . everything!

It may surprise you to learn that all this homemade food is not from a fancy uptown restaurant. It is instead from the kitchen of Mark Hinsley's snack-bar style eatery, Skippy's. Hinsley, a self-made cook and self-confessed food lover, opened Skippy's to raise traditional snack bar food to a new level - and that is just what he has done.

Skippy's is not your ordinary "freezer to fryer" snack bar; in fact, there is nothing "ordinary" about Skippy's, a refreshing spin on snack bar fare found right here in Warwick. Most items on the long and extensive menu are made upon request from hand-cut and hand-prepared ingredients. Nothing is ever canned or frozen here. There is no compromising on quality or taste in the name of speed here at Skippy's. Everything is made with the kind of loving care you can only find at home.

Just ask regular customers and loyal fans Keith Williamson and Cheryl Netcoh. Keith and Cheryl are ordering something different tonight - the Steak & Cheese Sub. The Steak & Cheese Sub is a ½ lb. sandwich packed with lean shaved steak, sautéed onions and mushrooms, fresh steamed peppers and American cheese. As Monday night league bowlers, this couple rave about everything they have eaten here at Skippy's - lighting up at just the mention of the Meatball Sub and spiral cut fries. They claim, however, that the food is second to the great service of Hinsley himself.

Whether you are a bowler or a curious culinary explorer, come in to Skippy's and treat yourself to something hot off the menu. There is wide and varied selection of specialty pizza's, including the Meat Lovers Pizza ("it is so heavy, it takes two men to carry it!"), steamy hot 10" hand-pressed Calzones, both hot and cold Subs (served on crusty rolls delivered daily from Crugnale's Bakery), and an endless supply of snacks from traditional items like hand-breaded Chicken Fingers to unconventional items like hand-dipped Fried Pickles. Delicious.

Skippy's is also the perfect place to host your next birthday/bowling party. Great food, great service, great prices and great location - it doesn't get any better

Skippy's is located at 2530 Warwick Ave in the Meadowbrook Bowling Lanes. Hours are 11:00am to 9:00pm, daily. There is even FREE delivery, with no hidden costs - ($10.00 minimum). Call 935-7030 or "like" them on facebook. Credit cards accepted.
