Officer Timothy Kenyon was dispatched to 5 Algonquin Drive at approximately 5:26 p.m. on April 20 for an assist outside agency call. Dispatched relayed that a wild turkey had crashed through the house and the ceiling was now leaking. Kenyon said another officer also responded to the scene to assist. Officers spoke with the homeowner, Nancy Page, who said she left the residence at approximately 1 p.m. and returned at approximately 5:15 p.m.

When she returned, she said she attempted to open the garage door but the door only went up about five inches and stopped. She said she opened the other garage door and entered the garage, where she observed water flowing from the ceiling onto the garage door opener and garage floor. She said she went upstairs to check the bathroom, which is directly above the garage, and when she opened the door, there was a wild turkey in the bathroom, so she shut the door and immediately called 911 for assistance. Kenyon said when officers arrived, the water was flowing from the garage ceiling, and the garage and living room had approximately 1 inch of standing water and it was still flowing. Kenyon said the water main was located and turned off to stop the flow. DEM was contacted and responded to assist. Warwick Fire personnel arrived and assisted in removing the standing water. They also checked the bathroom and it appeared as though the turkey somehow hit the hot water handle and turned the faucet to the on position. Also, items had been knocked into the sink, making it difficult for the water to drain properly, which caused the sink to overflow for an unknown amount of time. The DEM officer removed the turkey from the bathroom and released it back into the wild. It appeared to be uninjured. Kenyon said the residence sustained damage in the upstairs bathroom, garage and lower level living room. The garage ceiling was water soaked and the sheetrock appeared to be sagging slightly.

I'd like to see the look on his face when you explain that to the insurance adjuster.
