The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra played at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet.

The Irish Rovers were at the Providence Performing Arts Center, followed by yet another version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats.” Next it was The Who’s “Tommy,” which brought a lot of young people to the theatre.

Captain Nemo’s Sandwich Shop in the Meadowbrook Plaza had fish & chips for $3.95. Hometown Buffet on Route 2 in Warwick had all-you-can-eat luncheons for $5.99 and dinners for $7.99.

Russell Kellog directed “My Man Godfrey” at Perishable Theatre.

“The Birdcage,” a movie remake of “La Cage Aux Folles,” starred Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. Ethan and Joel Cohen’s “Fargo” starred William H. Macy and Frances McDurmand. It became a cult classic.

Joe Marzilli, formerly of the Old Canteen, was the new chef at The Roxy on Park Ave. in Cranston. They had a prime rib dinner on Saturday nights for $8.95.

Claire Bloom did a one-woman show at the Greenwich Odeum.
