A very young Mauro Hantman starred in Anthony Clarvoe’s new play, “Ambition Facing West” at Trinity Rep. It was directed by Oskar Eustis and also starred Phyllis Kay and Timothy Crowe.

Eustis also directed one of Trinity’s rare Broadway musicals, “The Music Man.” And guess who played Harold Hill. Fred Sullivan Jr., of course.

Warwick’s Sheraton Tara Airport Hotel had a Mother’s Day Brunch for $19.99

Rhode Island’s own Enrico Garzilli brought his musical, “Rage of the Heart” to the stage at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

Bob Collona presented his one-man show, “Me and Shakespeare” to Wickford Elementary School for one performance.

Katie Hugo, who spent a summer at Theatre-by-the-Sea, returned to Rhode Island to star in “Carousel” at PPAC.

Phillip Block of Cranston was a cast member in the Spanish Theatre of Rhode Island’s production of “El Pobrecito Embustero” at Rhode Island College.

Academy Players presented the musical, “On the Twentieth Century” at Swift Gym. Sam Babbitt starred as Oscar Jaffee.

Newgate Theatre did Durang’s hilarious offbeat comedy “Beyond Therapy,” directed by Alan Hawkridge.

Brown Theatre tackled the Greek tragedy “Electra”, directed by Tori Haring-Smith.

Liam Neeson starred as Jean Valjean in the movie version of Victor Hugo’s novel, “Les Miserables.” No music in this version. Helen Hunt starred in a “soap opera/thriller “Twister.” Bill Paxton played her estranged husband.

Blues guitarist Paul Geremia performed at Warwick’s CCRI as part of the Rhode Island Guitar Festival.

I started to do a weekly alphabetical list of my favorite Rhode Island restaurants, beginning with Angelo’s on Federal Hill and continuing with the long-gone Bugaboo Creek and recently closed Blue Grotto. Our daughter’s favorite was the Breakfast Nook in North Kingstown, while Joyce’s was Bertucci’s next to the airport.

Kevin McCarthy starred as President Truman in “Give ‘Em Hell, Harry” at the Greenwich Odeum.
