Warwick Continental’s 11-year-old all-stars edged South Kingstown American 6-5 on Sunday to punch their ticket to the district championship game. Continental is the only unbeaten team in the tournament, with three victories to its name, and it will have to be beaten twice by whichever team comes out of the loser’s bracket.
Continental will host the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m., against an opponent that’s to be determined. Five teams that are currently still alive in the loser’s bracket and will sort themselves out this week. If necessary, a winner-take-all championship game would be held Monday.
At the 10-year-old level, Warwick West Side has put itself on a similar path. The team won 13-3 and 10-0 in its first two games to move into the winner’s bracket final against East Greenwich. That game was scheduled for Monday, with results unavailable at press time. The winner moves into the championship game, which is scheduled for Sunday at 5:30 p.m. The loser drops into the loser’s bracket final, which is scheduled for Friday.
